I've been obsessed with music as long as I can remember. I come from a family who always had music playing in every room of the house, on every car ride, etc. My favorite thing to do as a child was to sit and listen to my mother's old Beatles records. My love for music started with the classics: Beatles, Steppenwolf, The Doors, etc. In my teens something happened that changed my life forever: I discovered metal. I'm not talking contrived lame metal like Metallica. I'm talking the great metal bands like Carcass, Obituary, Cathedral, and Testament to name a few. I still to this day fall in love with the pure emotion of those bands. After graduating high school I began to veer more towards progressive rock/metal. King Crimson, Yes, Dream Theater, The Melvins, Opeth, and Isis have played such a crucial role in my love for music that it's amazing that I hadn't discovered them earlier. My musical tastes now span everything from The Velvet Underground to Captain Beefheart to Guapo. My biggest influence as a bass player has been Kevin Rutmanis (Tomahawk/The Melvins/The Cows). As a vocalist I've been heavily influenced by Jim Morrison and artists from that era. I've always viewed myself as having a sort of "preaching" quality onstage and my writing usually tends to center around occult/fantasy. I truly love making music with the gents in PFJ and am excited for the future.
