I've pretty much been around music all my life. My dad played drums and saxophone and his best friend/brother-in-law is an amazing guitar player. We had an old piano in our house as well as saxophones, a trumpet and trombone ect. There was always something for me to mess around and experiment with. I started taking piano lessons in '92 and played for about two years before realizing that wasn't my bag. My dad had in the meantime bought me a cheap mini acoustic guitar that had been collecting dust when I decided to give it a try. I taught myself at first and began to rapidly catch on. I took lessons for about 6 months after that and quickly worked my way into the jazz bands at school. I played jazz all trough high school and had my metal bands after school. When I was a senior I played for the the St. Scholastica jazz ensemble and after graduation I started at UMD in their music program. I also had joined Tepetricy around this same time. I had left them before things started to take off to pursue my own musical interests which led me to Owatonna, Hawaii, St. Paul, and finally back to Duluth. Upon getting back I contacted an old friend I used to play with back in high school, Nick, who happened to be a founding member of Portraits for Judith. We got together to jam and one thing led to another. Shortly after I joined forces with Nick, Tom, and Dustin and got on board the most fulfilling and creatively stimulating music projects of my life. We continue to up the level of our writing and constantly challenge each other to explore different musical perspectives. I hope to have a very successful career with these gentlemen for years to come.
